Organised by the Master 2 Culture management students from the Université de Rouen, as part of ZEPA 2, this seminar will challenge our vision of arts and disability, at the Maison de l’Université in Rouen, Wednesday 26th March from 9.30am.

The 2005 law for equal opportunities and equal rights set the ambitious objective of universal accessibility for 2015. What have arts and cultural organisations done towards it ? Between initiatives and obstacles : what happens when conventions and pre-conceptions slow down the process of costums evolution.

Three round-table sessions will bring together professionals from the cultural and social sectors around accessibility in performing arts venues, outreach initiatives and professional and non-professional arts practices.

10h - Introduction

10h30-12h30 - Accessibility for disabled audience members in performing arts venues

14h15-16h15 - Engaging with disabled people : is non professional practice a solution to change perceptions ?

16h45-18h45 - Disabled professional artists : from professional education to professional recognition

Alongside the various art / dance workshops they have delivered at Atelier 231, dancers Susanna RECCHIA and Victoria MALIN from UK company Candoco (involving disabled and non-disabled dancers) will also be speakers at the 3rd round-table session.
